Overview

 

  1. Four year program that rewards a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree

  2. Requires two years of undergrad education before applying

  3. Looks at university average, experience in field of pharmacy, and references from pharmacists. Does not require PCAT scores

  4. Lecture begin in January of following year of application.

  5. Has co-op terms to ensure theory learned in class is applied in real life setting

Admission to School of Pharmacy is based on academic ability and personal qualities, as evidenced by:

  1. Academic Achievement

    • uWaterloo only requires two years of undergrad and a minimum average of 75% in all courses before applying, provided all the prerequisite courses are taken. 

    • There are a lot of prerequisites that are required. Click here to see all the uWaterloo courses required. Equivalents are taken for applicants outside of uWaterloo. 

    • The Admissions Committee prefers applicants to take a full course load in their studies, as students are more likely able to deal with the academic work load of pharmacy school

  2. Pharmacy Admission Information Form

    • Form includes academic recor and involvement with activites. Information provided will be kept confidental.

  3. Reference

    • ​You will be asked to provide info of an individual that will submit a reference on your behalf. Ideally it will be a pharmacist who can comment on whether you are suitable for the profession. 

    • Physician or nurses can be used too but cannot be a relative of yours.

  4. Interview

    • ​Selected applicants are invited for interviews which are held during a weekend in April each year.

  5. Fundamental Skills Assessment (FSA)

    • Assessment includes basic mathematical skils, ability to communicate your views in written form and reading comprehension.

    • Used as a way to ensure you can communicate with patients and colleagues from various professions.

Tuition costs between $8,500-9,000 per term, with a total of seven study terms.
