Academic Requirements

Applicants must have completed three or more years of Bachelor of Science of full-time studies

Completed all specified Optometry which can be found here

A minimum overall university average of 75% of all courses taken is required. Actual averages of accepted students range from 79% to 92%

Optometry Admissions Test (OAT) results

The OAT must have been taken two years prior to application (ie September 2016 admission applications can have OAT taken between Aug 31st 2013 to Aug 31st 2015. The best score is used if OAT is repeated

Minimum score required is 300 but average OAT score for 2015 Waterloo Optometry applicants is 370.

Confidential assessment forms (CAF)

Two CAF are required and are similar to letter of references but are more specific. It is a part of the secondary application and is not available prior to that time

An optometrist CAF and a character CAF (employer, supervisor, professor, coach, or minister) is required.

Non-academic achievements

Within the application, it asks for academic awards, non-academic awards, work experience, volunteer experience, and experience within optometry field.

Selected applicants are invited for an interview at the end of November

Interviews are conducted on a the weekend of January of the following year and is in multiple mini interview format
