Admission to University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine is based on academic ability and personal qualities, as evidenced by:

Academic Achievement

Applicants are expected to take coruses at a level corresponding with the year of their program

Ie a student who applies for admission while registered in third year of undergraduate studies should have at least three third-year or higher courses in his/her program.

Applicants in fourth year of their program should be enrolled in a majoirty of courses at third- and fourth-year levels
-

Prerequisite course requirements include two full-course equivalentsin any life science, one full-course equivalent in any social sciences, humanities or a language

Minimum GPA of 3.6/4.0

If full courses were taken over the undergraduate career, UofT will take out 6 lowest courses (if in third year) or 8 lowest courses (if in fourth year). This encourages students to take challenging coruses

MCAT 2015 minimum scores of 125 in each of the four section

If you wrote the old MCAT, minimum scores of 9 in each of the three sections

Autobiographical Sketch & Personal Statement

Added this year, the autobiographic sketch and personal statement provides a way to review non-academic data.

This includes achievements, extracirricular activities, volunteering, and work experience.

Brief Personal Essays

Applicants are required to submit four original brief personal essays, with each essay answering a specific question related to faculty's mission and values.

Each essay must be 250 words or less

Letters of Reference

Three letters of reference are required, and there are four clusters listed here

It showcases your attributes, activities, and achievements clusters with potential referees
-
Ensure that the whole range of clusters is represented among three letters as a whole

Interview
-
Approximately 600 applicants will be invited to Toronto to attend an admissions interview.

Interviews are sent at least two weeks prior to interview date

Interviews are held at the end of February, mid-March, and early April.
